“Children see magic because they look for it.“Christopher Moore, author
With 8 years’ experience supporting children in a residential treatment facility, Alexis brings a calm steadiness and a sense of play to her work with kids. Children’s sessions use a non-insertive needle technique that is characterized by a light tapping or brushing of the skin along the meridians using a small healing instrument called a Teishin. For children who may have a hard-time sitting still, a more energetic approach to treatment can be taken where physical contact isn’t needed.
Children’s healing treatments are especially helpful to alleviate anxiety, night terrors and tummy aches; calm hyperactivity; improve sleep and digestion; and boost immunity. Many parents choose to support their kids’ health with a “Back to School” immunity boosting appointment.
Sessions for teens are similar to an adult Acupuncture or Intuitive Transformative Healing treatment, however, Alexis places a special focus of her work with teenagers on helping them develop a sense of body awareness and healthy boundaries around self-care. By teaching teens to listen to their bodies when it comes to their health and food choices, it creates ripples across all areas of their lives that will create lasting impacts as they enter adulthood. As they become more aware of their body, they learn to check-in with how their body feels when anything enters their space – whether it be food, a relationship, a decision – and question, “Does this feel right for me?”
Alexis also supports young women as they navigate their menstrual cycles, allowing for a new awareness that periods are supposed to be pain-free. Strategies, such as herbs and supplements, can be recommended to more easily manage this time in their lives.
Neuro-lymphatic Manipulation plays an important role in sessions with children and teenagers. As pathogens accumulate and grow in our bodies as we age, it can lead to more serious health expressions. If we can address them while young, it helps young people experience a higher bar of normal for their health and vitality and prevents more serious health concerns from forming.
“I think that the best thing we can do for our children is to allow them to do things for themselves, allow them to be strong, allow them to experience life on their own terms… let them be better people, let them believe more in themselves.“C. JoyBell C.
